Desirous of sharing the wonderful & nutritious spice-infused cuisine she grew up with, Ramona Borthwick, a creative artist with hands-on experience in the art of Asian cuisine, has transformed her lifelong passion for cooking into a concept aptly named 'The Well-Tempered Cook'.

Born in the bustling port city of Bombay, India, known for its melting pot of sub-cultures, religions and cuisines, Ramona is motivated by her love of wanting to share tasty, healthy food with others. The preparation of Asian food, in particular, Indian, is a holistic experience. Based on the principles of ayurveda, foods & spices can be prepared and combined in ways so that they are in 'harmony' with ones constitution and body. She believes that by building self-awareness and awareness of foods we consume, we can healthfully utilize Nature's bounty.

Although her culinary roots are firmly grounded in Asian cuisine, she has embraced other cuisines through the years. Soy, barley, couscous and quinoa are just some of the other 'world' ingredients that are part of her repertoire. Unable to resist cracking recipe codes of new and unusual dishes, her preparations are healthy, packed with flavour, dispensing the outdated notion that healthy food, in particular vegetarian, is dull and lack-lustre. Her lessons well presented, with a touch of humour, have been highly appreciated and are not to be missed!

And there's the key spice of Ramona's persona, which is as inviting as her food - she cooks with personality, warmth, energy and caring.

An accomplished pianist, she currently performs and teaches in the Boston area. Her other professional interest is designing websites, which she does through Leitmotif.
